Riise fires agent mother

The Norwegian international has been represented by his mother since he joined Monaco at the age of 17, but has become so exasperated by the publicity and mickey-taking the arrangement has brought him in England, that he has decided to find a new advisor.

The £4million Anfield summer recruit will now be represented by Norwegian agent Einar Baardsen and, speaking to the Daily Mail, Mrs Riise confirmed: "John Arne has felt that it's been a burden for him that his mother is his agent. He doesn't fancy the 'cry baby' label.

"It's a natural process that he wants to separate career and family. It's nothing more dramatic than your kids wanting to move from home when they grow up."

Riise's mother was a central figure in the player's proposed move to Leeds last year, with Monaco said to be less than happy with her involvement in the breakdown of the transfer.

Riise, who had talks with Fulham before joining Liverpool, commented: "I prefer her in the role as mum only, not as agent-mum.

The reason for this is that I want to separate work and family."
