The 2001 African Player of the year has agreed personal terms and a fee thought to be £9million was agreed prior to the tournament by Gerard Houllier.
"I'm delighted to be joining Liverpool," said the striker who played a blinder against France earlier today.
"I want to become one of the best players in the world and I'm sure that at Liverpool and with a great coach like Gerard Houllier I can do that."
